My Experience as a Firefox Student Ambassador

My name Rishu Kumar Goenka (Rish), a “Firefox Student Ambassador”. I belong from Giridih, Jharkhand, India. Presently pursuing B.Tech from Institute of Technical Education and Research, Bhubaneswar, India.

I am a web lover and spend a lot of time with my LaPtoP being found online always. Apart from FB, there are much surf I do to keep myself updated with my field of Interest. Ever since I started using Internet, I have always been curious about web and its technology and finding ways to start contributing towards it. One fine day while googling I got to know about Firefox Student Ambassador Program and got registered for it by fulfilling surprisingly simple requirements i.e., you must be 18+ and currently associated with an institution.

As a beginner in the Mozilla community, I have gone through many things like Mozilla Wiki and came across to know a lot about Mozilla, its Projects and Products (Web maker, Open Badge, MDN, SUMO). And “Why they are doing everything free of cost”. One will be definitely amazed to know that apart from coding, we can contribute through many different ways like Blogs, Translation, Designing, and Teaching.

From the last few months, it was really a good experience for me in writing codes, learning from internet, meeting new people and many new things which I had never done before. Before being with Mozilla community I always wondered how to get recognized for the work I do other than my academic activities because I am not that good in studies but I do lots of other stuffs.

The good news is that I have been rewarded with my very first achievement, i.e Firefox Student Ambassador Badge and also got Club Lead Badge.

Seeing my badge collection keeps me motivated to perform new things and to contribute to Mozilla as much as I can in my own small way.

Being a Firefox Student Ambassador it feels just awesome. It is real fun to work with Mozilla, interact with awesome mozillians around the world and help each other.
